The organisation can upgrade the software whilst the system is down which will not affect the employees.

Having a risk reduction measure is very important when making any installations or upgrades, there are three types of methods for reducing any risks that are involved when installing or upgrading. The first risk reduction measure is to do backups. Before installing a new operating system or major update always make sure to backup all of your data and software. This will safeguard your work and if something goes wrong with the update then you have your backup which you can use. This is called a Roll Back which will basically roll back time to before you updated your system, this is very useful because it can help users who may not like the new update which they have installed. You can also backup your data and software in different locations just incase if this gets lost from a specific place. Also, another risk reduction measure is that you should installation something at a low risk time, meaning when you install your software you should do it at a time when there is no one on the computer. In a business when you have lots of computers and you need to install software on it you should do it when there is no workers on the computer which means that nothing will get effected and if there is any down time then you also have plenty of time of rectify the situation and get it back to normal.

Furthermore, another risk reduction measure is incremental installation, this means that if you are a business and you are going to install new software on multiple computer systems, then they should only start with a few systems as this can reduce the risk to ensure that no problems arise, if there are no problems then they should continue with the other systems. This also means that if any problems occur then it will only effect only a small amount of computers. This also means that if you are a business then you can carry on working whilst the other computer are getting fixed. If the customers do not get the service they want, this will most likely re-direct the customers to a different website and the organisation would lose a lot of money and profit whilst the other one is making more money.

If an organisation goes down they need to make sure they get it up and running as soon as possible so they don’t lose as much customers and they may tend to. This wouldn’t really affect the customers as there are loads of websites which they can access. Data loss is important and this can be a big risk, when it comes to updating a system an for example if you upgrade your system you can still get the software back or in other words re-install them but data you may not be able to get this back at all.

So for a company to be on the safe side they should keep several backups just in case if anything does happen or the data becomes corrupt. Driver problems are one of the most common causes of all sorts of trouble connected with an operating system upgrade. Just because you get through the installation process and the OS runs, that doesn’t mean things haven’t gone wrong. You may find that your sound card no longer works or that you can’t print in the new operating system.
